Fall Ball is officially here! Registration is now open for the NELLS 2026 Fall Ball Season. Registration will be open through August 2. This year we’re going to again focus on fundamentals and learning. Games will be more of a scrimmage, so we won’t be keeping score. We will be encouraging coaches and umpires to pause during these scrimmages when there are good teaching moments. To keep the games moving, there will be a limit of 7 batters per inning. This will allow for more innings to be played while still allowing time for teaching and multiple at bats for each player.
This fall we are offering programs for Prep (6-8), Minors (8-10), and Majors (11-12). While we encourage players that will be moving up in the Spring to register for that level of play in the fall, we want to ensure that we are keeping everyone safe while potentially playing with older girls. For this reason, we are requiring any player moving up early to wear a facemask while on defense. This includes the outfield! We will be doing some major work on Field 1 this fall, so our Majors division will have games at Northcrest. Prep and Minors will remain at NELLS. Prep will play on Monday and Wednesday, Minors on Tuesday and Thursday. Our hope is for Majors to practice on either Monday or Tuesday and Games on Wednesday. We are in the process of finalizing things with Northcrest.
While we don’t have a unicorn division for fall ball, our friends at Northcrest will have a program this year! I will send that information along once I have it!
Coaches, this is the perfect time to step in to coach if you’ve ever thought you might. We will be providing drills so that you can be prepared for practice. This type of season works the best when we have small teams, and that requires lots of coaches! We will also need to have more coaches next year. We have a lot of long-time coaches who will be leaving us over the next couple of years as their girls age out and we need people to fill those shoes. Participating in the Summer Sunday practices is also a good way to get some experience.
